A singing cowboy- a composite cowboy/gunfighter of the Western frontier. He shares the name of a famous Dodge City Marshal, Jack Allen.
Jack Alan was born in Sterling, Illinois in June, 1905. Early in life his family moved to Arizona.
His father was a professional musician, so Alan’s love for the guitar was hereditary. At age nine he started out on a journey to master the instrument. Growing up he spent a lot of time with Arizona cowboys and wranglers and at age 17 won his spurs as a cowboy.
Realizing that the days of the trail driving cowboys were long gone, he began a writing career featuring his heroes, the cowboys and gunfighters. He drew the illustrations himself since he could not afford and artist.
Later, Alan served as a Deputy U.S. Marshal. |
