Forrest Dougherty as Humorist, cotton farmer, and cowboy trick roper

Born on his family’s cotton farm in 1928. He describes his experiences with a Will Rogers flair, incorporating rope spinning, singing, and comedy.

Using photographs and hands-on materials, Dougherty explains the history of cotton from its domestication thousands of years ago to its modern-day uses, illustrates how cotton played an important part in Arizona’s economy, and follows cotton production from seed to finished product as a cowboy rope.
