When author/illustrator, Pamela Carvajal Drapala, first started driving to work in the Yuma Valley twenty-nine years ago, she barely noticed what was happening all around. After her two daughters left home to attend Northern Arizona University, it was as though a filter was lifted from her eyes. She began to see the entire splendor that surrounded her as she drove through the Yuma Valley. The contrast of the patchwork fields against the indigo sky was wonderment to her eyes. She saw farm workers working in the fields of lettuce, cauliflower and Sudan grass which, inspired her to tell their story. Join us as Drapala tells the story of The Fruitful Yuma Valley; The Yuma Farm Workers. Books will be available for purchase and autographing following the presentation.
Tickets: $10, sold at door; Free for AHS members. Reservations requested, ykruse@azhs.gov or 928-782-1841.
