Join us for an early evening gala celebration and silent auction kicking off the opening of the Arizona Historical Society's newest exhibit. Explore issues involved in preserving history and the tension between progress and historic preservation as viewed through the Society's George Chambers' collections. George Chambers was a Tucson newspaper executive and community leader whose amazing contributions included saving many significant historical materials from destruction in the 1920s to the 1950s.
It will be a night to remember with Mayor Bob Walkup officially opening the exhibit, performances by Mariachi musicians, roaming cowboy balladeers, and Museum docents in period costume. Step back into Tombstone's heyday with the ghosts of Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday and have your picture taken at the Bird Cage Theater bar as a unique and meaningful token from the evening. Enjoy wines sponsored in part by VinTabla and Integris, and savor samplings prepared by legendary Tucson restaurants such as El Charro. Compete in a silent auction for valuable treasures, donated specially for that purpose, by the Society's supporters. All proceeds benefit the Arizona Historical Society.
